Home again = self reflection

Being a flight attendant brings many layers to our lives and job. When we show up for a trip assignment, the amount of days and who we work with varies. Ability to adapt and adjust is something that can serve you well. Now this post is not about becoming a flight attendant, but a little taste of what “living a day in the life” can look like.

Media has given a glimpse into how things have shifted in the industry, for all of humanity.Being in an environment where weather, mechanical issues, medical situations, etc can change our work day is inevitable. It affects everyone! Oftentimes people believe, even with all these challenges, we have a trade off, the pay off being we have time to explore and live a pretty glamorous life. Most often layover time is for self care, rest, and reset to get ready for the next day. Layover times can be at a bare minimum, that taking care of our basic survival needs is all we want and need.

My “blog” thought today is on self reflection. Home again, that feeling of YAY! When things align this job is truly magical. It is that injection of “THIS”!!!! The why!!!

My three day trip started with crazy weather conditions, causing delays. Day one, from start to finish, was very LONG! The difference here was the crew. How we worked effortlessly, our intent to serve, grounded in who we were individually yet collectively there for eachother and the customers in the cabin. The vibe was totally authentic. We moved through challenges and shared laughs. Customers followed our lead, knowing what could be controlled was taken care of.

Our last day, gifted with a long layover, a beautiful location with spring-like temperatures, the sun beaming! Fresh air, long walks, cafe time, exploring the beauty of DC with great people. This is the feeling I choose to take from these days, coupled with a few special customer interactions, I continue to fuel the good.

Any of you had crazy experiences that ended with a “HuuuMM that was awesome” kind of experience?

*Last thought,-duality is necessary to know what we don’t want! How would we know this without it?
