Reflections from the Hygge Retreat
Stavanger, Norway
There are experiences that imprint you quietly — like warm light filtering through the trees or laughter echoing across still water. The Hygge Retreat was one of those.
Together with Sofia, I had the deep joy of welcoming a small group into a peaceful corner of Norway, where daily yoga, nourishing meals, and the comfort of slow days created space for something rare: true exhale.
Mornings began with breath and movement. Evenings closed with softness and stillness. In between, there was nature — deep and generous — and the kind of reflection that only arrives when there’s room to listen inward. We walked trails, shared stories, explored together, and also honored the quiet, letting each person meet themselves exactly where they were.
The house that held us felt like part of the landscape — rooted and restorative. The conversations were gentle. The transformations were quiet but unmistakable.
Hygge, in its truest form, is not just coziness. It’s presence. It’s belonging. It’s creating spaces where people feel safe enough to soften, to explore, and to remember what’s already within them.
Sofia and I came into this retreat through a shared calling — to bring our cultural roots, our healing experiences, and our love of yoga into a gathering that felt both personal and expansive. What unfolded went beyond anything we imagined.
Thank you to those who joined us. Your courage, your stillness, your joy — they remain with us.
And to those who are called to something similar: there will be more.
With deep gratitude,
Nancy
